You wouldn’t want to carry this around and pull it out on the train or at school. It’s too big to be portable.
What exactly are you using your laptop for? If you are just surfing the internet and using it for school assignments you can probably get away with a less expensive machine with less RAM, disk space and a cheaper graphics card. If you plan on using your laptop for gaming and media streaming you want to make sure that you have a large enough hard drive for storage, a large amount of RAM and an updated graphics card. It is a good idea to check the minimal requirements for the games or media interfaces you want to use and build on that.
Battery life is also an important consideration. If you are going to be travelling with your laptop or away from a power source you want to make sure you can get maximum performance from your machine. Check ratings and read reviews online on battery life before buying any laptop.
Quality is also a major factor. I purchased a laptop to do some basic school work on and I did so with little or no research. It was a impulse buy and I regretted it. The laptop was poorly constructed and did not have quality parts. I had problems from the onset. Read reviews online and check forums and question and answer sites to help make your decision before you buy that perfect laptop.
